I havent done very good in 2009 for reading! I'll blame it on the wedding. I've started a lot of book but couldnt get into them....I need more good books. Thinking of joining double day bookclub. 6 books for 99 cents! I've made my commitment to the Literary Guild and they kinda piss me off with their automatic shipments if you dont reply within a certain amount of time, which is why I have a bunch of books I cant get interested in.

I'm proud of myself, yesterday I made homemade meatballs and spaghetti, and it was all really good. Go me! I can bake, but I dont know much about cooking so I'm proud of myself for making a nice dinner last night.

Well, its Columbus Day and I have to work! So I gotta leave now :(

2009

We'll see!

Its the first football sunday of the season so guess what I'm doing all day....hanging out in the bedroom watching the little TV and being rather bored. I havent left the house all day.

Trailers are weird I dont know how in the summer, when the temperature goes down outside, the temperature goes up inside despite all the windows being open. I dont know the trailer can maintain a 20 degree difference between inside and out. I dont know how....in the winter when the temperature is going up outside the temperature doesnt go up inside. I think this is the result of bad insulation. Or, the lack thereof.

I am NOT looking forward to winter. It makes me wish more and more I lived in a area where there was minimal to no snow. Snow is what bothers me the most. Cold weather does suck but its easier to deal with than the snow. Particularly because I have a 20 mile drive to work on a windy, hilly road and last year it was horrible with my bald tires. I have to get tires before winter comes and I dont look forward to dropping about 500$ in new tires. Other than the way my car handles in the winter I really have no complaints about it.

Our doc at work had hip surgery last Wednesday and he'll be back on Tuesday doing office hours. 6 days post op. Hes one tough dude. Hes had a couple of trigger fingers worked on and he goes back to work right after the surgery. I could never do that thats for sure.

Well I guess thats enough for now.

I also have the following waiting for me:
    John Saul "faces of fear"
    Danielle Steel "Honor Thyself"
    Jesse Kellerman "The Genuis"

I LOVE the book club thing I'm in. They keep having these deals where I can buy one get one free and all the books are generally 13$ or less. When I was in Barnes and Nobles yesterday I saw a James Patterson book i was interested and when I looked at the price it was 25$. Geez.
First of all, its hot. Even with the air conditioner on in here its 82 in the living room.

Second of all....i dont know...

I have a headache and its making me drowsy. My dog is a silly beast and she seems to be going through an agressive chewing stage. Shes destroyed all her toys and shes made it so we cant get her 1. anything squeaky and 2. anything with stuffing or stuff she can rip. She loves to rip apart things and and pull the stuffing out. She has also got an array of tree branches spread across the back yard because she loves to chew the small branches off the trees.

Today we removed a 9 pound spleen tumor from an 11 year old golden retriever. I am honestly suprised it lived. We removed spleen and all. And I got to glove up and hold on to the football sized tumor while he clamed it off veins and ligated them. It was semi interesting. Then I got to do the skin sutures. He lets me do the skin sutures on big incisions now.

I got a subscription to SELF magazine. I'm really trying to find ways to be active and lose weight and eat better. We are also really interested in getting kayaks but theyre like 500 each, plus accessories and needed things. I would LOVE to go kayaking. We also want to get cross country skis for the winter, but again, costs money. I really wish my Bowflex would fit in here. The ceilings are too low so you cant put the top part on which sucks.

I want to get a kiddy pool for the dog, one of the hard plastic ones. Wal Mart only had inflatable. Shes so cute when you give her a full dish of water. She dunks her paws in it and then smashes her face into it and pulls her head up with water running off her nose. I think it would be fun to watch her play in a little pool.

Well, my head hurts and I just want to go to bed....

I read a lot...

20.Dr. Nick Trout "Tell Me Where It Hurts" Also currently reading

I also joined The Literary Guild and I just got my first 6 books so now I have:
Dean Koontz "odd Hours", Danielle Steel "Honor Thyself", Barbara Delinsky "The Secret Between Us, Stephen King "Duma Key", and Jesse Kellerman "The Genius" and have to yet read these. The Nick Trout book was part of this order too. I have lots to read!
My lovely dog threw up in her cage 3 times at 4:30 this morning so I had to switch out her blankets and then she started to whine a lot so I put her outside for a minute and when she came back in she finally fell back asleep. I dreamed all night about doing blood transfusions at work. Probably because the doc insists on doing a blood transfusion on a dog with a hamangiosarcoma and we have no equipment to do a transfusion so he had us order a bag of sodium citrate and then erin said we needed the filter line so we ordered that then when we went to do it yesterday we realized we didnt have a collection jar so we emptied a bottle of ringers and used that....then he had me sedate a town dog and he stabbed it in the jugular like a hundred times and a gigantic bloody mess and we got like 300cc of blood and then i cleaned up the dog and did a heartworm/lyme test and wouldnt ya know it the damn dog had lyme disease. Then the doc is all like....give it the blood anyways it wont hurt it any....and we were all like 'is he serious?' and then he called his daughter (who is also a vet) and she told him not to so all of a sudden like he a conscious of his own he said he couldnt do it, it would be bad medicine. No shit. So the only other town dog we have is a severely obese one which probably has several problems and I imagine it wont be easy to hit a jugular on an enormous dog. And hes not doing any other blood work on the dogs other than a heartworm lyme test which is retarded. The whole reason we're giving this dog a transfusion is because its severely anemic....yet what if the other dog is too??? Would be rather pointless. I just dont understand....the woman who owns the dog just lost her own mother to cancer last week and now her dog has cancer and the doc wants to jump through hoops for her yet is risking the dogs life even more by half-assing everything. And we just had another case of hemangiosarcoma in one of our other long-term clients and he sent them to Cornell. It annoys me to work somewhere where things are done half assed and we're doing ghetto blood transfusions.

So anyways, on Sunday my parents came over for a couple hours then we brought Gracie over to Andys mom and let run wild for an hour or so and then his sister brought their choc lab puppy over and they romped and played for a little while. Then we got home Gracie ate dinner, went outside and slept on her cushion for the evening and at 8:30 she was begging to go to her kennel to go to bed. She was one tired dog.

The weathers been pretty decent. Thats nice.....so sick of snow.

Anyways, i guess I'm gonna quit the rambling for now.
I have some pet peeves to share with you....essentially these things are what 'grind my gears'...

1. people who wear pajamas in public. I give very LITTLE leeway to college kids, who live in campus and are too lazy to get out of bed and at least throw some jeans on, or, comfy pants that dont have plaid print or obvious characters on them. But since thats apparently the lifestyle i'll forgive that a little bit. What really gets me is anyone, especially adults who were pajamas at like wal-mart, or the grocery store or anywhere. Thats just insanely lazy and it makes them look like a slob. Even some of the most attractive people with great hygiene will come off as an unkempt slob to me if they were pajamas in public.

2. People who spell simple words wrong. not typos, but use the wrong spelling of words. Like there, they're and their. or just simply make words spell out to sound the way they sound but are way the heck off. I'm not an all-star speller but somethings just drive me nuts. It seems like some people are pulling words out of the air and not bothering to learn to how to spell basic vocabulary right. And i'm sorry to those who have a hard time with this.

3. The lady (and every other animal owner who is like this)- whos dog was scheduled for surgery yesterday but refused to leave the dog with us and refused to let us put her in a cage. So where do you propose we put the dog while shes waking up from anesthesia? The dog woke up and started staggering around the surgery room...shes more likely to injure herself staggering around banging into things and to distract us while we're continuing other surgeries. its not safe, and its retarded. Why are these people so anal about putting their dog in a cage? Dogs are den animals. Its ok, trust me. and I think its ignorant to expect us to waste our time baby sitting your dog outside of the cage when we could be going on with our business letting her wake up in her cage. In the end, I put in her in a cage and I dont care if 'mommy' liked it or not.

4.People who call for appointments and want to get in for vaccines and other routine things within a couple of hours. I hate the phrase 'you cant get me in today?' in a snotty tone. Also the people who have actually called expecting to get a surgery appointment THAT day or within the next couple days. Life doesnt work that way.

And, for now, thats all i can come up with.
